Maybe this is the right time to ask...
What are bones files??? Even the NetHack manual doesn't help me. What are they? |

Mimics don't have claws!!!
Otherwise, quite nice. Except for the minor deficiency in having the punchline in panel 5.
It would be funnier with " " in panel 6, and "depleted uranium " in panel 7. |

Jonas:
Sometimes when your character dies a copy of the level is saved which includes your possessions (now mostly cursed), your pets (now untamed (usually) but still named), and the of your character. You may encounter this level in later games. If you can survive it (since whatever killed your old character is still lurking about, and if your old pet was strong that's another hazard) your old loot may be useful.
It can get a bit frustrating (or even comical) if you get killed again and the bones file gets resaved, because then it will contain the menace, yet another , and yet more ex-pets. This can happen again and again.
BTW I once encountered a bones level where my old pet was still tame. And I have encountered at least one where my old pet was peaceful.

Nah, arch-arch- is funnier because it's silly on its face. You don't have to know what a (or ) is to get what the author is saying.
Love the depleted uranium , though.

Re:bones files (spoilerish maybe)
My first ascension was the benifit of a 3-bones file dlvl ~8. The file was set up by a polymorph trapped killing 3 post-mines players each with artifact weapons and BoH's. My V was (very) lucky to get an early WD wish for GDSM, and had mojo from sacing. The went down fast enough, and i gathered nearly a full kit. |

You're right, L; mimics "hit" in NetHack. I tested this scenario in Slash'EM, in which they "claw you". And "depleted uranium " would've been better, but then again, I considered "The dynamite lights itself!", and now I'm thinking that that might've been better. But I do like "arch-arch-", especially since the theme here is that each new monster is a direct (albeit silly) upgrade from a real one. |
