Actually, turtles are probably "wetter" then newts -- turtles spend most of their time in the sea, only coming to land to lay eggs. Tortoises, however, spend almost all their time on land (or in rivers).

Actually, Drizhen, the word turtle can be applied to any member of the order Testudines, which includes turtles, tortoises, and terrapins. However, according to the most accurate usages, "turtle" refers to marine members of the order (which are usually almost exclusively aquatic), "terrapin" refers to freshwater members, and "tortoise" refers to terrestrial members. |
