Apart from the inability to genocide humans (I know, I've tried..., yes I am a misanthropist, why do you ask?), this is fair. |

NetHack applies several quirks to races (one of "", "", "", "", ""), and I may not understand them correctly.
The races of "" and "" lack the G_GENO flag, so normally one may not genocide humans. (One may always genocide "" or "" or "".) The overriding rule is that it is always possible for a to genocide its own race. Thus players may genocide humans. In the above webcomic, neither Cherry nor Dudley is .
A genocide removes only one type of monster, so the genocide of "" would remove common humans, but not other M2_HUMAN monsters such as "", "" or non- adventurers ("", "", "", ... from the Astral Plane). As a quirk, genocide of will remove unpolymorphed players.
Genocide of common humans is not much useful, because NetHack does not generate common humans, except as the corpses of mummies and zombies. NetHack also does not generate common elves nor common orcs, but it does generate common dwarves and common gnomes. Thus "" remains the one and only one race that NetHack does not generate, but that you may genocide.
Examination of the M2_NOPOLY flag shows more consistency. NetHack prohibits the polymorph into any of the five races, with the exception that a may polymorph into own race for the "feel like a new" effect. |

Probably one of the reasons for not allowing the genocide of humans is to protect your levels, Rodney, and the various high priests. Since patch includes "sane genocide rules" as a feature. There, easy solution! :-) |

I guess that would be the case if genocide of humans would wipe out all M2 creatures, but like Kernigh said, as it is genociding humans would only wipe out common humans, not soldiers, -monsters, shopkeepers, or the . Is that what you meant by 'sane genocide rules' - that, for instance, genociding orcs would kill off all M2 monsters? |
