The first comic in this series can be found here (http://www.nicolaas.net/dudley/index.php?f=20080107).
And just to clarify, although NetHack characters should normally be a '@', this will be a 'G' for the rest of this series, to distinguish him from the , Dudley. |

Hahahahaha. It took me a while to get it.
That sounds a lot like one of my characters, actually. I just hope he doesn't get blasted to by the Eyes. Wishing for a artifact is a bad idea at level 1, even if you are a . |

I din't really get it... he's not roleplaying the 19 INT very well if he's quaffing at level 1- at LEAST wait until you can pwn some snakes and escape from a ! and dropping all that stuff would be wise too.
rated Fair, unless there's more to it, which I'm sure there is
So I take it this guy's REALLY lucky and he meets Duds (Archenemy of the RNG)? |

I think there's an option you can set where it will show your race symbol instead of @ if you're not . Isn't there? |

@: If one's lucky enough, I guess it's wise to do fountains, because with huge rl luck, fountains would alwasy be good. |

If I only first level and I find a I will always quaff. I have much to gain (, stats, a wise, or even a slow moving E) and if I die because of it, I lose about thirty seconds of work that it took me to start the game. Sure, with my luck it may not be the best idea, but you can get a hella lot of EXP from the elementals, or even the snacks if you can get into a corridor... and have plenty of arrows. Or a . Of . |

Those snacks aren't particularly tasty. |

Cromwell must be using the showrace option. Dudley has tried this option before: http://www.nicolaas.net/dudley/index.php?f=20060201
Cromwell ought to quaff and die, because the staircase to the surface is missing, so there is no way to bring the out. |

Haha - well noticed Kernigh. I didn't think of that - though it's ok for there to be no stairs, as Cromwell is in the same dungeon as Dudley, and there is only one set of up stairs.
quaffing right at the start of the game is probably acceptable if you have /oDeath, ?oGenocide, or another item which will enable you to avoid dying. But quaffing with the intention of dying and restarting is another example of meta-gaming (like startscumming), and is BAD - don't do it! |

I usually wait to quaff until my luck is high enough to get all my stats boosted, instead of just one.
I find it amusing that my question is "Which character represents a ?" |

Explaining the lack of stairs:
He quaffed a cursed of lose level when on the surface. |

OK,fair enough.
Hey, since there's no stairs, it would be a good idea to get that !o gain level cursed. |

I would rather wait until my luck is high enough to get all my stats boosted, but I can never seem to find a luckstone so I can accumulate enough luck. This probably has something to do with the fact that I always die before reaching the mines' end. |

Armv's problem is that he'll die on games that give him early good things like wishes because he will have no practice on games that don't. |

I almost always quaff from fountains until I'm sure they're not magic (unless I'm saving them to take a shot at ). I've been badly messed up in the past by having my equipment (especially BoH) cursed by a in the late game; it's not as much of a problem early on. ( is of course a higher risk, but one I'm willing to take.)
I've occasionally had a get an early boost by getting moccasins from a ; they can be disabled and taken out one at a time with the sleep, and they're not as much of a threat when you're poison resistant. |
