<humor>How did it know that I was wishing for termite corpses AND experience points?</humor> (Humor tags seem implied and unnecessary on this .) <humor>Actually, I can blame every in nethack on the RNG. That is convenient. If I kill myself with an exploding again, it is not my fault! |

What is given for free, RNG takes away. What RNG giveth, RNG taketh away. Recently I had a game where I managed to get a /oDeath off a shkp, and then an electric shock blew up the :( |

Breaking a glass wishing by kicking that is definitely possible. I know because I once did that. Now I always check that I have identified glass before kicking the castle . |

Never ever kick a (or force one with a for that matter). You never know what you'll destroy.
It's also a good idea NOT to zap unidentified wands. I once had two and I zapped both. One was polymorph and the other create monster.
"You turn into a . The bites. You die." or something horrid like that. |

"Dozens of termites drop from the ! Your oak crumbles to dust!"
Can that really happen?
And for one, you shouldn't put unidentified wands in bags. I once put a cancellation in holding (with a lot of stuff) and tadamm... |

Kicking a is safer than bluntly forcing it. If you accidentally break the , you may lose everything, not just the glass items. |

Not if you force it with a or . Until I get a key I usually carry an orcish (from a ) around to force chests open. The may break, but the daggers are quite common anyway. |

I said bluntly forcing it. Which means using a blunt weapon. |

I usually kick the first few chests. Then I enter the Gnomish Mines and find some lock pick or key.
I did not know that daggers so useful. "Your 19 daggers get dull! You are only able to write 'Elberet'." |

... I have Google ads for termite inspection and pest control. It is dependent on what the current URL is. See http://www.nicolaas.net/dudley/index.php?f=20050527 |

Hehe, Elberet.
First write 'Elb', then 'ereth'. It'll work.
And, um, this strip isn't about breaking glass wands is it? |

It's true, Violist. What RNG Giveth, RNG taketh away.
I played a valk (I never play valks) named Grognorina, and I stepped on a teleportation trap that led me to a , which I quaffed from once. The gave me a wish no sooner than turn 10.
RIP
Grognorina
Poisoned by a rotted corpse.
(a falling trap got him, how was I supposed to know it was 50 turns old? IT WAS TURN 65 AND I HAD GRAY SCALE MAIL!!! huff huff.
GRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! |

This is why you should never eat corpses if you didn't see the monster die. And even then you shouldn't eat them if you've lost track of time since they died. ( corpses are, of course, excepted.) |

corpses also don't spoil, and I've heard that acid blobs are acceptable for sacrifice regardless of age (though I haven't tested the blobs.) |

You can, but your prayer timeout goes up after you have a wish granted. And although Big Trouble will let you pray a little early, it's by no means guaranteed that you'll succeed.
As for acid corpses, they're always acceptable as a sacrifice, but that doesn't mean they won't rot away on you. |
