A provisional 'P' until I learn of a reason to give it higher...

After some careful re-reading, I get it. Dudley killed this guy "Steven", because he mistook him for a newt(kinds of) small animal, like a lizard, which spends most of
its time in the water.
        [ Oxford's Student's Dictionary of Current English ]

"Fillet of a fenny snake,
In the cauldron boil and bake;
Eye of newt and toe of frog,
Wool of bat and tongue of dog,
Adder's fork and blind-worm's sting,
Lizard's leg and howlet's wing,
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble."

(Dudley was hallucinating.) However, this isn't obvious, partly because Dudley sees Steven as a rogueI understand the business, I hear it: to have an open ear, a
quick eye, and a nimble hand, is necessary for a cut-purse; a
good nose is requisite also, to smell out work for the other
senses. I see this is the time that the unjust man doth
thrive. <...> The prince himself is about a piece of iniquity,
stealing away from his father with his clog at his heels: if
I thought it were a piece of honesty to acquaint the king
withal, I would not do't: I hold it the more knavery to
conceal it; and therein am I constant to my profession.

at first (represented by @), which doesn't imply hallucination, and the system messages include both Dudley's messages and Steven's messages.

Altogether, it's too confusing...

The way it struck me was that everything was from Steven's perspective (including all the system messages), that it was Dudley coming down the corridor, and possibly the only line of Dudley's was "ARGH! A newt(kinds of) small animal, like a lizard, which spends most of
its time in the water.

!" -- meaning that it was Steven who killed the WizardEbenezum walked before me along the closest thing we could
find to a path in these overgrown woods. Every few paces he
would pause, so that I, burdened with a pack stuffed with
arcane and heavy paraphernalia, could catch up with his
wizardly strides. He, as usual, carried nothing, preferring,
as he often said, to keep his hands free for quick conjuring
and his mind free for the thoughts of a mage.

. That would explain why there aren't any hallucinogen-distorted symbols, at least. This would mean Steven would be putting on the ringThree Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky,
Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne,
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.

too, but it's not THAT unreasonable - he has no more reason than Dudley to be expecting a playerThese strange creatures live mostly on the surface of the
earth, gathering together in societies of various forms, but
occasionally a stray will descend into the depths and commit
mayhem among the dungeon residents who, naturally, often
resent the intrusion of such beasts. They are capable of
using weapons and magic, and it is even rumored that the
Wizard of Yendor is a member of this species.

Yupp, way too confusing. The second last panel should have the system message separated and I'd like a "by [a]" fix to the tombstone.
Kinda clever twist though so M.

Pretty funny actually. As always, things get confusing with all those @s running around.

I was afraid no one would get this one. Well, Antheridium got it right.
Few notes: While creating this I kinda thought of Steven teaming up with Cherry against their mortal enemy. Also, I didn't give Steven a standart -ley name because he's a) quite competent and b) NOT Dudley's friend or relative.
Dogley's missing. Why do you think it is so?
